  • Description

OASIS-E CCL: Move to Improve is designed to increase clinician accuracy in completing the OASIS assessment over a 6-month time period.

The program starts with a comprehensive pre-test. Based on the scores of the pre-test, agency managers are delivered custom reports identifying score by clinician as well as specific problem areas to use as a baseline.

The education component of the program is delivered in 12-modules over a 6-month time period. Each OASIS-E Move to Improve module focuses on a specific problem area identified in the pre-test and delivers interactive scenarios that walk clinicians through the patient experience. Clinicians are asked to use their existing judgement to answer OASIS items, and guided to the appropriate response after their selection is made. For full competency, frequently missed items are repeated month to month until a collective understanding of that item is made.

The program begins by integrating several more complicated OASIS items into scenarios with those that are less complicated. As the learner progresses through the modules, the level of complexity grows until a full understanding of all items is made. There is also a special focus on items that impact Star Ratings, HHVBP and PDGM payment.

Upon successful completion of the program clinicians are directed to the final post-test. All post-test results are uploaded to the manager reports to determine progress made and impact on the organization.

    Evidence Base Learning

OASIS-E Move to Improve is the first OASIS program to be built on the theory of cognitive constructivist learning. With the constructivist learning strategy, teaching methods are used to assist learners in assimilating new information to existing knowledge, and enabling them to make the appropriate modifications to their existing intellectual framework to accommodate that information. When successful, this allows the learners to problem solve in ambiguous situations resulting in better application of learning in real-world settings.
